New Lyric Video for Change The World

Change The World

Change The World Sketch by Tom Van Wyhe

You can never have enough creative friends and today I have a few great examples one in the form of a sketch and the other a lyric video.

First up is the image you see to your right. Out of the blue, a tear or so ago, my friend Tom Van Wyhe sent in a sketch for for “Change The World.”

Next, YouTube friend Samantha Parsons whipped up a lyric video (below).

I think she did a great job capturing the feeling of the song while at the same time integrating some pretty cool effects to display the lyrics.

Check it out!

A BIG THANKS to Tom and Samantha for their time, hard work and creativity.

Do you have a great idea for a video or some other creative that uses my music? If so I’d love to hear about it. Contact me now.

Remember, I am kicking off my “One Song A Month Indefinitely” plan starting now so keep an eye out on my blog via RSS or jump on my newsletter (look up and to the right) for future releases because if you are digging this tune, you will not be sorry you did.

Two years ago I had the privilege of writing and performing “Take This Ring” for an aunt and uncles wedding. Then, this last summer, I had the privilege of performing this song live for a bride and grooms first dance as a married couple. Today both events come together in the form of a music video.

Behind The Song

“Take This Ring” is a custom song written specifically for my uncle and aunt, Mark and Bonnie Aeling. I wanted to capture the feelings and thoughts that race through your head at that moment you realize how in love you are with someone and know you want to spend the rest of your life with that one person

Behind The Video

The bride and groom in the video are Cole and Krista McKean. They heard the song, loved it and asked me to perform it for their first dance (That night was the first night I ever met them). As you’ll see they look great together in the video.

So here you go, press play and watch the video now. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

Free Memorial Day Music: Who Do You Miss?

If you are looking for another way to remember anyone who is not with us any longer, I have an idea.
Last year I wrote a song called “Minnesota Got Colder” and then with the help of some of my fans, we created a video in honor of those who are no longer with us. This year I wanted to expand on that even more.

First…

First, i am giving the song away for free through Memorial Day. Just visit this page and download it now.

When there, just click on “Free Download” under “Digital Track.”

Also, pease feel free to pass it on to anyone on Facebook, Twitter, your site, in your email, wherever.

Second…

I thought it would be great if you could share the name and/or a story about someone who is not with us today – if you are up to it.

Here is what I was thinking;

1) In the comments below the video, tell us who you will be remembering this Memorial Day. Maybe even share a story if you’d like.

2) Share this video with everyone you think would like to participate.

Can’t wait to read your stories.

I’ve heard from a few people that I should give the America’s Got Talent contest a shot. So I figured what the hell and whipped up a video with me performing the Johnny Cash classic “Folsum Prison Blues.”

Here is how it turned out.

Psst…ARE YOU NEW HERE? Great, grab 2 of my free music downloads here.

A few nights ago a got a hair up my butt and decided to record a little video. I grab a glass of wine have a glass a wine and started playing “Lodi” by Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Here is a little treat for you. I recently picked up some video editing software called Sony Vegas Movie Studio 10 (very cool by the way) and needed an excuse to practice my “lacking” audio and video production skills.

This piece is very short video song I whipped up to give a small taste of life during a Minnesota snowstorm. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Oh and here are the lyrics if you are wondering:
I think I’ll stay inside today
Blowin snow seems to have a way
The blanket of white seems to ease my troubled mind
I think I’m gonna stay inside today

Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of playing up in Chanhassen, MN at School II. It was a great trip and I’ll have more about how it went in a post on Monday. But for now I just wanted to share my new tune with you.

It is called “Cold Shoulder”. It is basically a tune about getting home really late after being out with my buddies all night. I bet many of you can relate to this whether you are the one home alone or the one getting home late.

Either way, here it is. Let me know what you think and don’t be afraid of sharing it with everyone you know. ;)

A big thanks to Stephanie Shinn for the great video footage.

OH, and before I forget, be on the look out for some future posts on this very subject. You could just sign up to my fanlist at visit PlanetCorey.com.  I will deliver the article right to your email inbox and I’ll even give 3 free mp3 downloads right now just to say thanks.

Well I didn’t get it out as early as I had hoped BUT I did get it out on Memorial Day. My first video release was a learning experience and I will definitely allow for more time in the future.

But anyway, enough about that. Here is the video

I am extremely thankful to those of you who submitted your photos and I hope that you are happy with the way the video turned out.

Also, I want to thank my sister Heather for sacrificing her limited time to help out with this. It was great working with you on this. There were a ton of late nights with early mornings involved and it wasn’t easy but you did a great job.

If you have any thoughts about the video, the song or want to share a story of someone close to you that has passed, do so in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you!

Check out this video of an artist named Matthew Ryan. While I am will be performing in the lobby during intermissions at the Americana Showcase on April 15th at the Rochester Mayo Civic theatre, Matthew will be one of the artists on the main stage.

He will be joined by Brandon Sampson from Six Mile Grove and Charlie Parr.

Good stuff aye?

Now I know you might think that I am biased for what I am about to say, since I am playing there myself, BUT I’ve been a spectator at two previous Americana Showcases and I can tell you that there is nothing like them around here – especially if you are fan of any form of acoustic music. The environment is very intimate and the people – artists and fans – are extremely friendly and way passionate.

Bottom line, if you are a music fan, you don’t want to miss these types of shows.

Go learn more about the show and check out more from these artists, click here now!

See you there!

Oh, and if you have any questions just shoot me an email.

Now On Video (Scary Huh?)

Well I finally got up the nerve to put myself in front of my webcam, press record and then share it with you (took me awhile). It isn’t much BUT it is a start – babysteps as they say. Check it out!
