New YouTube Video for “Let’s Take A Walk”

Here’s a simple acoustic song about finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.

I wrote a few years ago for my sister and brother-in-law as a wedding gift (kind of like I did for “Take This Ring”).

I released it back in August and I’ve finally gotten around to putting it up on YouTube.

New Music - See You Smile by Corey Koehler

New Music: See You Smile

Do you have people in your life that make you smile by just thinking about them? That’s what this new music is about.

The inspiration for this song came shortly after my now 9 year old son (and first child) was born. I’ve been adding, subtracting and tweaking lyrics ever since.

Listen below to see how it turned out.

Album Art - Let's Take A Walk by Corey Koehler

New Music: Let’s Take A Walk

Album Art - Let's Take A Walk by Corey KoehlerGreetings from the small town of Mountian, WI where we are on a little family getaway. I am working a slow web connection so there is no video intro this month but here’s a little background for you.

The new music I have for you this month is actually not so new. It’s a song that I’ve had for a little over year now but never released outside of some immediate family and a few fans that where paying close attention for a 1-2 week stretch when I offered it up as a bonus for something I was offering at the time.

I figured it was a good time to release the song for good since it is bought and paid for. The recording budget is pretty slim these days and I’m trying to save up to put out some more full band songs for you guys (these recordings typically run from $400-$500.. not much when you are big time but until I find some more supporters, it will be spotty and I’ll have to be creative).

The song was created as a gift for my sister and brother-in-law.

The recording is also the first and only recording I’ve done with someone another than Tom and Annie at the RudeLab. A few years back I met a producer/musician Matt Olson from Ghost in My House Studio’s when opening for Nick Shattuck. He’s a good guy and I really liked what he did with Nick’s “Chorus and Verse” album so I thought it would be cool to work with him on something on.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Watch the New Lyric Video for “Why Wait”

I had a hair up my butt today and decided to whip up a lyric video for my tune “Why Wait.

Press pay now to check it out.

Oh and be on the look out for lyric videos for some of my other tunes as well.

I read that YouTube is sort of like a radio station for a lot of people these days. Soooo, I’m thinking it would be smart of me to have as many videos on there as possible (by the way… feel free to make videos using any of my songs).

What do you think?

New Music: Change The World 2012 by Corey Koehler

New Music: Change The World 2012

New Music: Change The World 2012 by Corey KoehlerFolk Rock Singer Songwriter Corey Koehler (aka me) has released new music, kind of. Here is an update version of his song “Change The World.”

The previous version of “Change The World” was missing a few things; bass and a live drummer (due to budget constraints the earlier drums were computer generated… did you notice?) .

For the past few years it has bugged the hell out of me because I think the song needs to be “bigger.”

Sooo, rather than let it continue to eat at me I figured it was time I just went ahead and beefed it up with more acoustic guitar, some bass – compliments of Tom Moncrieff – and put a real player behind the drum set (Tom again). Check it out.

My Interview on SongwriterSynergy (in Madison, Wisconsin)

If you are interested in some chit chat about writing music, some of my influences and how some of my songs came about, I think you will like this. Here is an interview that I did on a Madison Wisconsin podcast called SongwriterSynergy.

They guy interviewing me is Eric Schumann. He is also a musician and a songwriter. I’ve met him personally a few times now and he is a good guy. Hell, one of the times he drove all the way from Madison to Alma to watch us play. I couldn’t believe it!

He was also nice enough to record some audio, take some pictures and capture some video from the Dees Chees (Mt. Horeb, WI) and Big Tony’s (Alma, WI) gigs. I need to sort through all of it so I can show you some of that too.

Anyway, go now and check out the interview SongwritersSynergy.

Talking And Listening To Music On The Social Blend Podcast

Despite the fact that my tunes are more of the Acoustic Americana variety, I am a huge fan of all kinds of music styles. That is one of the reasons why, about every 3 or 4 months, I get together with the guys from Social Blend (Joe and Gregg) to talk about underrated and/or little known bands and artists on their podcast called Social Blend.

The podcast contains music from many genres to include metal, country, Americana, hard rock and some indie alternative. What we do is pick a few selection and then tell a story about each (which generated some good, meaty discussion as well).

If this sounds like something that is up your alley give it a listen. If not, hell, step out of the box for a couple minutes and give it a listen anyway. Ya never know!

Party At EB’s Corner in Winona on 12/12/09. YOU’RE INVITED!

Just got of the phone with Bob down at EB’s and it is official. Doc and I will be playing there on December 12th.

For the record, if you aren’t familiar with the bar it is actually pronounced “EEE BEE’s”.

Anyway, come on down, show your support, hear some great music and have a few with us. Its gonna be a good time!
