Live at the Red Sea Mineapolis - Corey Koehler

New Releases: Red Sea Live EP

These songs are from a show I did in Minneapolis, MN in early November 2012. I’m thinking that the laid-back-seat-o-my-pants nature of this album will go great with a few beers and some good conversion or maybe some nice background music while cooking.

They songs are fairly raw – glaring mistakes and all – but the man running sound that night, Nathan Reeder, did a great job recording them and they were just begging to be set free.

Accompanying me on bass guitar was Josh Vaughn. I’ve known Josh since we were making Styrofoam skulls in 10th grade plastics class. It was cool to have him play a gig and do a little bar hopping on the way back home.

Also, BIG props to Lia Myhre from All Done Photography for getting some great shots. One of which I used for the album art.

Anyway, enough blabbing, go check it out and let me know what you think.

2 Boring Music Videos

Before I get you to these boring videos, I have 2 things I want to share with you. First, the reason the videos are boring. Second, an opportunity for you to share your creative side with the world.

Boring Video Creation…

I read somewhere that getting your music on YouTube is a smart thing even if there is nothing more than an album cover to watch.

They say it is smart because YouTube is both the second largest search engine in the world (second only to its owner, Google) and YouTube is also one of the top places where people go to discover new music.

So rather than do nothing with the songs because I don’t have a ton of time to create epic videos, I figured I would get my ass in gear and just start creating and uploading some songs (even if they are boring to look at).

Make sense?

An Opportunity for You…

I figured I’d throw this out there for the hell of it. If you have an idea for a video for either of these songs, or any of my songs for that matter, feel free to download and use the song to tell your story. All I ask is that you show me when you are finished so that I can share your work with everyone.

If you need some inspiration and a place to create your video check, here’s a list of YouTube video creation partners.

Does that sound like fun at all?

Environmental song called Frac Sand Blues by Corey Koehler

New Environmental Song Called “Frac Sand Blues”

Environmental song called Frac Sand Blues by Corey KoehlerFolk Rock Singer Songwriter Corey Koehler (aka me) has released an environmental song in his song-per-month campaign. The song is titled “Frac Sand Blues.”

The song is an attempt to raise awareness about the controversial practices of Frac Sand Mining and Natural Gas Fracking.

And please, don’t just take my word for it, make up your own mind. Click the links at the bottom of this post to learn more on Frac Sand Mining and Natural Gas Fracking.

Memorial Video For Minnesota Got Colder Is Complete (Video)

Well I didn’t get it out as early as I had hoped BUT I did get it out on Memorial Day. My first video release was a learning experience and I will definitely allow for more time in the future.

But anyway, enough about that. Here is the video

Lyrics / Download / Buy CD

I am extremely thankful to those of you who submitted your photos and I hope that you are happy with the way the video turned out.

Also, I want to thank my sister Heather for sacrificing her limited time to help out with this. It was great working with you on this. There were a ton of late nights with early mornings involved and it wasn’t easy but you did a great job.

If you have any thoughts about the video, the song or want to share a story of someone close to you that has passed, do so in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you!
