Environmental song called Frac Sand Blues by Corey Koehler

Think about this:

What if you took Johnny Cash attitude and mixed it with early Bob Dylan political angst?

You might get something like the environmental song “Frac Sand Blues” by Singer Songwriter Corey Koehler.

The song is an attempt to raise awareness about the controversial practices of Frac Sand Mining and Natural Gas Fracking.

And please, don’t just take my word for it, make up your own mind.

Pay What You Want

You will notice that the price is currently set to “Pay What You Want.” It means what it says and even includes paying nothing (yep, the song is completely free. Costs you $0). And you can download the new music in any version you would like – mp3, wav, ogg, etc . Hell you can even send a copy to your friends if you feel like it and I will not call the internet police or the RIAA or anything like that.

Just so you know, If you pay anything at all between now and the first Monday in April (when I release more new music), I will put your name in the song credits under “Associate Producer” or whatever title you choose. This will forever link you to the song and proudly put you on display for everyone to see that you are supporting one very grateful musician. Your name will reside in the credits on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, CdBaby, etc for now but when it comes time to release physical copy of the CD, it will be there too.

“Your contribution not only helps me offset the cost of providing this music for free but it also tells me that you think what I am doing is worth the effort and that you want me to continue creating more music and moments for you.”

A Big THANKS to last month contributors – Associate Producers: Nicole Gentry, Alvin Kinsey, Jim Scherley, Brian Meek, Teresa Jerome and self proclaimed Podcasting Bitch: Greg Davies.

What is Fracking? – Very informative page – both visually and textually – on what fracking is. Also, check out the documentary film.

Pros and Cons on 60 Minutes (Video) – Both sides of the issue are presented in this 60 Minutes story.

Frac Sand Mining (Videos) – These are some random videos highlighting Frac Sand mining and its impact on the communities where its being done.

How Much Gas Do We Have? – Very informative article from Kurt Cobb – a journalist who reports on issues surrounding energy and the environment. I was able to catch a presentation of his Winona State University a month or so ago. He presented some very interesting data about the amount of “recoverable” natural gas and its importance relative to relieving us of our dependance on foreign suppliers.
